During times of stress and crisis, it is easy to feel powerless and overwhelmed by problems – that there is no hope, direction or possible change in sight. The events of 2020 have created a climate of unpredictability and uncertainty over many areas of our lives – families, finances, jobs, health. The current climate may have highlighted areas of your life you would like to change or prioritise, or you may simply wish to develop some skills for coping with heightened stress. Whatever is happening for you, coming to counselling, where you can have respectful and confidential conversations on ‘neutral ground’ with a trained professional, can be a great way to start getting things sorted out. It can support you to reflect on things that have happened in the past, how they may be impacting on you now, and to generate a future with new possibilities. There’s no need to wait until things are reaching crisis point for you, and we are just as interested in what is going well!
Marie Edwards – Counsellor MNZAC. I am counsellor who is passionate about working collaboratively with people (adults and young people) dealing with a range of issues including: anxiety, stress, depression, grief, relationship problems, life transitions. I have been practicing in both private and clinical health settings since 2013, and look forward to sharing with you my specialist experience in women’s wellbeing, parenting, mental health, adult physical health and palliative care.

At Connective Counselling we understand it can be difficult to start the conversation, and sometimes it’s hard to put your finger on what you might like to get out of counselling. Rest assured, counsellor Marie will create a space where you can discuss the possible options, your hopes, expectations and perhaps some goals for counselling. Marie is used to working with individuals, couples and families (adults and young people). Simply contact Marie by phone, text or email (you can expect a call back within 1-2 working days).

It is natural to feel stressed and anxious in the current climate. Whether these feelings are new for you or not – talk it out, and then take control of it by learning and develop some tools for coping and calming.

A little bit about me…
My name is Marie Edwards and I am a New Zealander with Scottish, English and Maori heritage. Born and raised in Auckland, I love all this amazing place has to offer, and am a Mum to one fairly well adjusted young man! I’m committed to providing counselling clients with a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space where they can talk about whatever’s brought them to along, as well as the strengths and abilities which can be easily overlooked in times of trouble. I am employed in counselling/clinical practice, also have a background in health social work, and enjoy bringing aspects of this background to my private counselling practice in Remuera. I am happy to discuss my training, practice approach, or just counselling in general, without any commitment required to booking a session.
